UAP has been working closely with their site in Deeside to reduce the running costs associated with the compressed air equipment on site.
The initial compressed air energy assessment highlighted the potential energy savings available, with carrying out a complete VSD Conversion to the BOGE C15 air compressors on site.
Why a VSD Conversion?
A Variable Speed Drive (VSD) conversion offers an energy saving solution for the typical fixed speed air compressors, without the need to replace the entire compressor.
The customer had two BOGE C15 fixed speed air compressors on site which they alternated running. Because of the high off-load running hours and the relatively young age of the BOGE compressors, UAP found the best solution was to carry out a VSD Conversion to both compressors.
Along with the Siemens inverter installed to the compressors, UAP also installed CMC Airmaster Q1 Compressor controllers. The Q1 Controllers provided a much better P and ID control over the inverters than the original controllers and also offers a web browser option that the customer can access via his computer.
We had the BOGE air compressors installed at our facility, but later found out that they weren’t running very efficiently. UAP was very professional and worked closely with us to ensure our system was running as efficient as possible. I am extremely pleased with the result and the work UAP carried out for us.
