UAP has been working closely with a company in Buxton, Derbyshire to reduce the running costs associated with their compressed air equipment on site.
The company specialises in kettle controls, small domestic appliance connectors, bimetallic safety cut-outs and motor protectors.
The initial compressed air energy assessment highlighted the lack of storage/pressure vessel size in the compressed air system. This was causing the site to run a large 90kW variable speed air compressor to try and keep up with the spikes in demand. The receiver installed on site was only 800ltrs.
By installing a larger 2700ltr air receiver to the site, we were able to downsize the air compressor to a 75kW variable speed unit. The Kaeser CSDX140TSFC variable speed air compressor was installed. Space on site was an issue so the CSDX140TSFC with built-in refrigerant air dryer was the perfect choice for this application.
Reducing Power
By installing a variable speed 75kW Kaeser air compressor, we were able to stabilise the pressure and reduce the total package power / specific power needed to generate the compressed air on site.
Kaeser screw compressors provide outstanding efficiency and reliability. Developed by Kaeser and continuously enhanced ever since the Kaeser SIGMA PROFILE achieves power savings of up to 15 percent compared with conventional screw airend rotor profiles. All Kaeser rotary screw airends feature this energy-saving rotor profile and are designed to ensure maximum energy efficiency.
